Vivian Tam
Dr Vivian Tam is currently a postdoctoral fellow at The School of Biomedical Sciences, The University of Hong Kong. She received her BSc(Hons) from the University of Melbourne majoring in Immunology and Microbiology, and subsequently completed her PhD at The Co-operative Research Centre for Oral Health Science (CRC-OHS), Melbourne Dental School, The University of Melbourne. The recent technological advances in the ‘omics’ field has propelled the need for scientific research towards a more translational approach. Using state-of-the-art approaches in proteomics, Dr Tam aims to decipher the complex biological processes that govern health and disease associated with the intervertebral disc (IVD). As a recipient of the Chinese Medical Board (CMB) grant, she undertook further training to study the degradome of the IVD at the University of British Columbia. Dr Tam is also an executive committee member of the Little People of Hong Kong, an NGO which provides support to patients and their families, and plays a role in raising public awareness about rare bone diseases.
