Ralph Stanford
Ralph Stanford is an orthopaedic spinal surgeon practising at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. He completed training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2001 before undertaking a 12-month advanced spinal fellowship in Cleveland, USA. His scope of practice is in adult spine conditions including degenerative, trauma, tumour and deformity. At Prince of Wales Hospital, he is on the spinal injury roster and has close links with the spinal cord injury unit. He is supervisor of training for orthopaedic registrars and teaches medical students attached to the Prince of Wales clinical school. His current research commitments are with two multicentre clinical trials; RISCIS – riluzole in spinal cord injury study and SUCCESS – surgery for spinal stenosis; and vertebral biomechanics at the Surgical and Research Laboratory.
